Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Nicknamery ("we") handles information when you use nicknamery.com. We keep things minimal: the generator runs in your browser and we do not require an account.

Information we process

The text you type into the generator is processed entirely in your browser and is never sent to our servers. Your favorites and recently used styles are stored only in your browser's local storage on your device, and you can clear them at any time.

Cookies and advertising

We may use third-party advertising (such as Google AdSense) and analytics to support the site. These services may use cookies or similar technologies to serve and measure ads. Google may use advertising cookies to show ads based on your visits to this and other sites; you can opt out via Google's Ads Settings. Where required by law, we request consent for non-essential cookies through a consent banner before such cookies are set.

Analytics

We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are useful and improve the site. This data is aggregated and not used to identify you personally.

Our Chrome extension

We publish a Chrome extension, Nicknamery — Nickname & Gamertag Ideas. It is separate software from this website, and the cookies, advertising and analytics described above do not apply to it.

The extension:

• Collects no personal information and has no accounts
• Contains no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind
• Makes no network requests — the name library, the generator and the username checker all run offline on your device
• Never transmits, sells or shares the text you type or select

It stores two things using Chrome's extension storage: the frames you mark as favourites, and the last name you typed, so the popup reopens where you left off. If you have Chrome Sync enabled, Chrome may sync your favourites across your own devices through your Google account — this data never reaches us. Removing the extension deletes all of it.

The extension requests the activeTab and scripting permissions for one purpose: when you select a name and choose a frame from the right-click menu, it writes the framed name back into that page. It does not read page content, browsing history, or any site you have not explicitly invoked it on. It requests no access to websites in general.

The username checker validates a handle against each platform's published rules, entirely on your device. It does not contact those platforms and cannot tell you whether a name is already taken.

Your choices

You can clear local storage from your browser settings, block cookies, or use Google's opt-out tools. Using the site without these features may reset your saved favorites.
